Kemper Profiler Player

Ik heb al eerder een Kemper toaster gehad. Uiteindelijk verkocht dus. De Kemper Player was een ‘goedkope’ manier om weer met de vertrouwde geluiden te spelen. Echter, ik merkte al snel dat de Player teveel beperkingen oplegde. Ik probeerde dit op te lossen met losse pedaaltjes, een midi footswitch, pedalboard, 9 volt voeding enz. En tja…alles bij elkaar opgeteld kwa, ik al snel in buurt van de Kemper Stage. Uiteindelijk de Player en alle bijgekochte accessoires weer retour gezonden en ja… toch maar de Kemper Stage gekocht. Want ik was en ben nog steeds diep onder de indruk van Kemper in het algemeen. Dankzij de Player dus weer volledig bij Kemper terug! Voor mij dus niet geschikt, maar ik weet zeker dat de Player voor sommige gitaristen meer dan voldoende is!

Because of the lower price point (589) I decided to give the player a go. Coming from the strymon iridium (which has its own flaws) i was exited at first, but soon disappointed to realize that you cannot create profiles with the player (not the biggest problem, but still). I was pleasantly surprised by the shear amount of available profiles within the rig manager software, created and shared by others; some free, others to buy. What definitely set me of was the user interface of pedal itself, the bells and whistless that i could change on the fly, without knowing exactly what i was doing, the fact that setting a knob (volume, gain, treble, ie) in one profile doesn't translate over to others, the presets that are mediocre to begin with, the failure to connect to the mobile app, although it connected fine over bluetooth, AND the fact that you have to UPGRADE this pedal for at least 278 (of 2x 149) to get the most out of this pedal. Not for me.
