Flagship stage piano with stunning realism

The MP-11 SE is Kawai's flagship stage piano, designed for professional pianists who demand uncompromising acoustic realism, precise control, and robust, stage-ready build quality. At its heart is the acclaimed Grand Feel keybed, featuring 88 full-length wooden keys with grade-weighted hammers, let-off simulation, counterweights, and IvoryTouch key surfaces. Combined with Harmonic Imaging XL technology and 88-key stereo sampling of Kawai's SK-EX, SK-5, and EX concert grands, it delivers stunning authenticity and dynamic response. Three dedicated sound sections - Piano, E.Piano, and Sub - house a total of 40 onboard sounds, including classic EPs, strings, and basses, all fully layerable and adjustable via a flexible effects engine. Designed for both performance and production, the Kawai MP-11 SE also functions as a powerful four-zone MIDI controller and features USB audio file playback and recording.

Unrivalled acoustic feel

The Grand Feel keyboard action of the Kawai MP-11 SE provides a playing experience that closely mirrors a concert grand. Each wooden key pivots on a balance rail and activates a weighted hammer, giving the response and control pianists expect from an acoustic instrument. Triple-sensor key detection, counterweights, and a let-off mechanism allow nuanced repetition and dynamic articulation, particularly when playing softly, while the keys are finished with Kawai's moisture-absorbing IvoryTouch surface for a secure and natural grip. This premium keyboard action is paired with the Virtual Technician engine, offering 22 detailed parameters to shape voicing, string and damper resonance, hammer noise, pedal behaviour, and more - delivering a highly customisable sound and feel.

Hands-on control and real-world workflow

Despite its extensive features, the Kawai MP-11 SE offers a clean and intuitive interface with three clearly separated sound sections and four real-time control knobs. Players can quickly access and tweak sounds, apply effects, and build setups with ease. The onboard memory stores user setups and sounds, which can be backed up or transferred via USB. A full range of connections - XLR and jack outputs, line inputs with level control, three pedal inputs, MIDI In/Out/Thru, and USB to Host/Device - ensure seamless integration in both live and studio environments, while the included GFP-3 triple pedal unit, with optical sensors, supports half-pedalling, soft, and sostenuto control for maximum expressive depth.

About Kawai

Kawai is a Japanese manufacturer which has specialised in building upright and grand pianos since its inception in 1927. Since 1986, Kawai has also been producing digital pianos. Right from the start, the name "Kawai" stood for innovation: For example, Kawai produced the first digital piano with keys made entirely of wood, and also made the first keyboard to truly replicate the action of a grand piano. The list of artists who have chosen Kawai is long, and it includes both Classical pianists like Warren Mailley Smith, Ashley Fripp, and Mikhail Pletnev, and popular keyboardists like Herbert Grönemeyer, Ingo Reidl (Pur), and Don Airey (Deep Purple), among others.

Designed for stage and studio

Weighing 34kg and housed in a rugged metal chassis with elegant wooden side panels, the Kawai MP-11 SE is built to meet the demands of touring professionals, and its 256-note polyphony ensures smooth layering, splitting, and sustained playing, even during complex performances. The effects engine includes 129 algorithms, six types of reverb, and a global EQ, while Seamless Sound Switching allows patch changes without cutting off held notes. As a MIDI master keyboard, it supports four programmable zones with independent routing, ideal for controlling external gear or DAW-based setups. An optional SC-1 soft case is available for safe and convenient transport. Whether used as a solo instrument, performance hub, or studio controller, the MP-11 SE combines Kawai's acoustic heritage with the flexibility and workflow demanded by today's professionals.
