The JBL LSR 305P MKII is the most compact member of the American manufacturer's 3-series, for which some of the most effective 0concepts were adopted from the much more expensive M2 monitors. The tweeter's patented Image Control Waveguide, for example, ensures a large sweet spot and an accurate representation of the stereo panorama, while the double-flanged bass reflex port at the rear enables powerful bass reproduction regardless of the size of the cabinet. With the 305P MKII, JBL offers an active 2-way nearfield monitor with an impressive price/sound ratio. This bundle includes two of these for a proper stereo setup, plus a pair of height-adjustable monitor stands for optimal speaker placement.
Thanks to the special bass reflex technology of the JBL LSR 305P MkII, the compact speaker achieves bass ranges that many other 5-inchers can only dream of. The frequency response starts at an impressive 43Hz and extends from there up to 22kHz. Thanks to a revised driver design in the MkII version, lots of power and an extremely precise reproduction of transients are achieved. To adapt the sound to the room, there is also a pair of controls on the rear panel for adjusting bass roll-off and a high-shelf filter. The 5" woofer and the 1" tweeter are each powered by separate amplifiers with an output of 41W. The monitor stands are height adjustable and provide both stability and flexibility in any home studio.
There are no musical genres that won't benefit from the JBL LSR 305P MkII and its excellent frequency response, its large sweet spot, and its clear transient imaging. EDM producers, MCs and rappers, singer-songwriters, hardcore metalheads – anyone looking for affordable monitors that sound really good, have found what they're looking for with the 3-series MkIIs. And even in fields that are not – or not exclusively – musical, such as post-processing podcasts or YouTube videos, the speakers offer a reliable way of analysing the sound. The stands this bundle ships with are also especially suitable for use in the home studio, allowing the speakers to be installed securely with minimum effort, and without special studio tables or any alterations to the space itself.
JBL is an American company founded by James B. Lansing in 1946, which first went under the name of Lansing Sound Inc. Following legal disputes with Lansing's previous company, Altec Lansing, Lansing Sound Inc. changed its name first to James B. Lansing Sound Inc., and then finally to JBL in 1949. JBL's current headquarters are based in Los Angeles, USA. The company is well known for its audio system equipment, including loudspeakers and headphones, and is divided into two branches: JBL Consumer, which is dedicated to the consumer sector, and JBL Professional, which is focused on the professional audio sector and offers equipment for studios, live applications, and cinemas. JBL has been a part of Harman International Industries Inc. since 1969, which in 2017 became a subsidiary of the Samsung Group.
With its high-end specs, the JBL LSR 305P MKII is suitable for all recording spaces, although it will do an especially good job in the smaller rooms and classic bedroom studios that are often prone to bass response problems. With the monitor stands, placement is a breeze and thus the two speakers in this bundle won't take up any extra desk space. Moreover, due to their shape, the stands can be placed close to the table, meaning they won't take up too much extra space in a cramped home studio.
