Firstly, I'm not a professional, or a musician, just someone that enjoys listening to music. I have a nice desk-top set-up and I have previously messed around with room correction, using a USB measuring microphone and REW (Room EQ Wizard) and I've had good results with it.
However, the ARC Studio is a far more straight forward, guided process. It took me about 15 minutes to take the measurements and set up the ARC Studio box. Once set up, you can pretty much forget about it; it just sits there and does its thing. I'm very pleased with the results and those that have used room correction before will have an idea of what to expect; increased clarity, better imaging, less muddy bass - all those nice things.
As a home user, the need to buy a separate audio interface just to use the measurement microphone and take the measurements was a bit of a drawback, but I understand that many people will already have one. However, it would be nice if there was a microphone input on the studio box itself; after all, it already has analogue to digital capability, and one of the input channels could double up as a microphone input - so it needn't increase the cost as much as an entirely separate audio interface.
