Een betaalbare high end gitaar van hoge kwaliteit, maar niet de hoogste.

Ik zocht eerst naar een RG450 of een RG550 maar de RG631ALF had gewoon die alien achtige kleur! Zo vet en dope gewoon. Een stevige gitaar, alleen een beetje zwaar. Niet zwaarder dan een Les Paul maar wel zwaarder dan mijn 4 of 5 snarige basgitaren. Goed gebalanceerd verder. Prachtig mooi afgewerkt. Jammer dat deze gitaar niet met een Floyd Rose systeem komt. Met een rode gitaarband doet de gitaar mij erg denken aan de film Mars Attacks! en krijg ik er erg de Cthulhu vibes van. Hij straalt voornamelijk donker groen uit maar, wisselt in het licht soms van groen naar blauw en paars. Helaas meer paars dan blauw soms :p De hardware is prima. De potmeters waren gitzwart, die heb ik vervangen voor zwart chrome knoppen voor meer uitstraling en de nut van zwart kuntstof maar dat heeft geen invloed op de speelbaarheid van het instrument vind ik. De Gotoh locking tuners zijn super. Ik heb er een 13 -56 set op voor B standaard tuning. Ik hoef hem nooit echt te stemmen. De Fishman pick-ups met push en pull zijn scherp, helder, luid en strak! De hardtail bridge moest ik zelf opnieuw afstellen, die gingen tijdens de eerste oefensessie van hun plek maar, daarna was hij goed afgesteld. Nooit geen kuren meer gehad daarna. Goeie tuning stabilty en sustain verder. De slagplaat trok wat krom en van de body af en de neck pick up zit wat scheef tegen over de hals, daar zit wat ruimte tussen. Een sterke bolt-on neck/hals met redelijk goede cut away voor de 22/24e frets. De gitaar speelt goed, snel, fijn, precies en overzichtelijk. Deze machine is zowel een werkpaard als een sierpaard. Het doet alles waar je om vraagt. Het is geen Telecaster of een SG natuurlijk. Geschkit voor moderne Jazz en Djent Metal. De glow in the dark side dots en coil tap switch maken deze gitaar natuurlijk helemaal af. Alleen jammer dus dat er geen Floyd Rose op zit.

Good features for the price, but could use a little more quality control

It's a very good instrument, the pickups are exeptional and the knobs and switches fully complement their potential, allowing you to experiment in various tones, not just metal ones. They remain active pickups, but they can be far more versatiles than let's say the EMGs. The paint is very nice, especially with dynamic lights or direct sunlight. The neck is certainly thin, but not super thin like some other ibanez models. Coming from a squier strat, it immediatly felt better to me (i usually keep my thumb behing the neck). Mine came with some imperfections tho, such as:
- unfixed tone knob bolt, had to tighten it by removing the pickguard
- light scratch on the pickguard
- very minor imperfections on the paintjob, barely noticeable if you don't look closely, but still...
- small imperfection on the fretboard wood, required minor fix from my
luthier
- dirty frets and very dry fretboard, but it's to be expexted with long shipping and storage
All in all nothing too bad, but i'd rather not see things like these at an almost 1k guitar. You're going to bring it to a luthier anyway for a proper setup, but still i think the pricepoint could allow for better quality control from the factory.
After 60 euros from the luthier, it now plays incredible, looks amazing (i don't mind really small imperfections, barely visible) and holds tuning very well, so i won't mind sending it back.
I still think it's a good deal for the price/features ratio, considering the inevitable premium for the special paintjob

Very Happy with the purchase

Bought this guitar because I fell in love with the finish and because it boasts a lot of features.
My first Ibanez and I'm very happy with the tone. Very versatile because of the push pull, tone knob and 3 way switch, you can achieve pretty much every type of tone you would want.
Mine has some issues with QC such as one of the Ferrules not fitting properly and falling out. The screws for the pick guard are not inserted flush with the body.
The finish on the guitar is beautiful and has even more colours than what is shown in the images. From green to blue to purple its simply breathttaking.

Overall, the quality control is a bit of a disappointment especially for the price. However the features and amazing finish make up for the lack of qc, especially if you're willing to properly set up the guitar yourself once you get it (or take it to a local shop).

Very beautiful guitar, easy and pleasant to play.
The neck is thin and very friendly. Fishman humbuckers, coil split, push-pull shift of voicings, Gotoh locking tuners. All for a quite fair price.
Bought myself a beautiful Christmas gift.
