Over the years, Harley Benton instruments have gained a great reputation for their excellent quality and reasonable prices, and with its modern "single cut" look, the SC-Custom Plus EMG TBF is no exception to the rule. This guitar combines a solid okoumé body with a set nyatoh neck and jatoba fingerboard, and its carved AA figured maple top features a stunning "Trans Brown Flame Gloss" finish, making it a real eye-catcher. The two original EMG Retro Active FAT 55 humbuckers in turn produce a sound that is both versatile and powerful, while the sturdy nickel hardware on the top and the locking machine heads guarantee reliable tuning stability.

A fat sound and a slim neck

The okoumé body and nyatoh neck – two types of wood similar to mahogany - at the heart of the Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG TBF mean that it is truly in its element playing Rock, i.e. where power and conviction are crucial. Made in the USA, the two original EMG humbuckers harmonise perfectly with this combination: Thanks to a robust three-way switch they provide a vast range of sounds which can be tailored to personal taste, aided by the separate volume controls and master tone control. Fans of modern playing techniques will really appreciate the slim C-shaped neck profile, which starts at 20.5mm at the first fret and ends at 22.5mm in the guitar's upper octave. And to top it all off, the guitar comes strung with a set of high-quality D'Addario strings right from the factory.

I am impressed with the guitar overall. I am very happy with the looks, sound, and feel. It plays like a much more expensive guitar. I like it so much I ordered another Harley Benton guitar after having it less then a week. The only negatives are there's a little fret buzz on low E due to the low action setup, and the B string doesn't hold a tune like the other strings. These are minor and easily fixed. Love the guitar overall.

Best sound I have

I have several guitars, HB and Fender. This is my favourite. Selector Switch is a bit iffy, but I think this'll work out fine eventually.

35 years of playing....where has Harley Benton been my whole life!

I was told about Harley Benton from a friend and decided to order one. I was skeptical about the quality and sound because of the ridiculous price difference between my Esp's, Jackson's, and Schecter 's that I own.......OMG I was BLOWN away with the quality and sound of this guitar!!!!
So much so that I just ordered their Amarok guitar instead of an Esp 1000 series guitar at more than triple the price.
I wish I would have know about Harley Benton sooner, so don't be like me who took 35 years to get one, get one NOW, they have something for everyone!

Singlecut with great potential

This guitar is very well featured, lightweight and very comfortable to play. It's the basis for an excellent LP. The frets are super level, perfect in size, and the edges are superbly finished. However they need a pro polish, just a polish to get to a £3k plus small batch high quality guitar standard, no buzzing on this guitar with a low action. The pickups are good, the bridge doesn't allow enough adjustment for proper intonation, so I fitted a tone pros. The tuners were poor, the knurling as almost non existent on the lockers, so I have fitted better one's. The nut is excellent with string height spot on. The finish on the guitar is excellent as good as big price models. Great top fret access too. Guitar rings like a bell, sustain is plentiful. For the money it's an absolute bargain !!.
