Digital 5.8 GHz wireless system

It's a wonderful thing to be able to connect a beloved instrument to one's favourite amp wirelessly – but it's often prohibitively expensive. The four-channel Harley Benton AirBorne Pro 5.8Ghz wireless system combines an affordable price with high quality connectivity and allows a guitar, bass, or any other musical instrument with a 6.3mm jack connection to be connected to an amplifier at a distance of up to 35 metres without any loss of sound, and while transmitting 24-bit audio at 48kHz. In addition to a transmitter with an LC screen and built-in lithium-ion battery, this set also includes a receiver equipped with a chromatic tuner, a cable tone simulator, and a mute switch – it also serves as the charging station for the transmitter. With a battery life of up to five hours, though, even epic jam sessions shouldn't be a problem.

None of the cables, all of the quality

Because its plug-in jack can be rotated 220°, the transmitter of the Harley Benton AirBorne Pro 5.8 Ghz can be adjusted for optimal use with virtually any instrument. Its LC screen displays the most important information, such as which channel is in use, whether the receiver is paired successfully, or simply if the mute function is activated – it also shows the remaining charge of the integrated battery, which can be recharged via the USB cable supplied or using the receiver unit. In addition to these key functions (i.e. receiving the signal and charging the transmitter) the receiver also features a tuner and a continuously variable cable tone simulator to mimic the capacitive effect of a genuine cable connection. The receiver is also fitted with a bright, clear display, which is very practical when tuning in poor lighting conditions, as well as more generally for monitoring the most important functions of a wireless setup.

Goed werkend, maar......

Niks te klagen over de electronische functionaliteit, prima bruikbaar in elke situatie, maar......in vergelijking met de goedkopere oudere versie is de ergonomie, vooral voor een Stratocaster niet zo tof.
Je kunt deze transmitter niet plat tegen de body van een strat leggen en dat maakt hem live aardig kwetsbaar. Misschien dat ik een platte input op de gitaar monteer, maar dat hoort eigenlijk niet nodig te zijn. Foutje in het ontwerp.

Onhandig met ST-modellen, maar..

Niks over de techniek, werkt prima en ik breek m'n nek niet meer over alle losse kabels. Enig (al eerder) genoemd minpuntje - op een ST (Strat en dergelijke modellen) zit de zender op een onhandige plek. Mijn oplossing - de jackplate omkeren. Problem solved. Een ander issue, de zender slingert heen en weer, ook niet handig. Opgelost door een stukje Velcro (klittenband) op de zender en op de gitaar te plakken, zodat hij mooi op zijn plek blijft zitten. Al met al had er een minuutje langer over de ergonomie nagedacht nagedacht moeten worden, maar voor het geld hoef je het niet te laten.

Deze draadloze gitaar verbinding van Benton werkt uitstekend. En had tot mijn verrassing ook nog een tuner aan boord. De squelch werkt uitstekend en de accuduur na opladen is meer dan voldoende. Een topper dus

Onbetrouwbaar, maar het concept is goed.

Het concept is goed en het is fijn dat er voor deze prijsklasse een instap model wireless is. Echter heeft deze mij live al in de steek gelaten door 4 streepjes batterij te geven en een nacht laden en plots ineens leeg te wezen.

Ik denk dat ik helaas een faulty unit heb. Maar dit is netjes opgelost door Thomann door mijn geld terug te geven. Ik ga nu voor een iets hogere klasse Sennheiser XSW-D.

Ook de kwaliteit voelt wat goedkoop. Lichtgewicht plastic. Maar als het zijn ding doet zal het prima zijn.
