You need all three
They do what they're supposed to do, and do it well. After 18 months it starts to show wear so I'm ready for the next one from the three-pack. If they're not in use and behind the nut and you hang-up your guitar in a stand or on the wall they are exactly where you don't want them to be. And moving them over a locking nut is a little less easy than a regular nut. But recommended for good damping strings.
