I should've bought one of these a lot sooner.
To me the sound and especially the feel of tube amps just cannot be replicated. I've played amp sims for years simply because being loud wasn't an option at home. This is alright for distortion sounds, but clean/ edge of breakup sounds from sims are less than impressive.
In my experience, other sollutions to volume always come with a compromise. Master volumes tend to either thin out the sound or just make the amp response flat, and passive attenuators, even expensive ones, push the sweet spot further away once you knock off too many db.
This device doesn't have any of those drawbacks. It also opens up some interesting options. For instance, I've been using this to plug a deluxe reverb into a marshall 4x12.
If you have a tube amp, just buy one of these.
