The Electro-Voice ELX200-10-W – the W refers to its white colourway – is a versatile passive loudspeaker with a 10" woofer and a 1" tweeter. With a continuous power rating of 300W and a peak of 1200W, a single speaker of this type can provide sound for indoor audiences of up to 60 people. Thanks to its bevelled design, it's suitable not only for front-of-house sound but also as a stage monitor – simply placed on its side. This popular model covers a very wide frequency range from 49Hz to 22kHz, so that users will only need to add a subwoofer for the very lowest tones.
When powered by an amp, the EV ELX200-10 can deliver a continuous peak sound level of 127dB SPL, making it the equal of much more expensive speakers. Its horizontal dispersion angle of 90° means it'll provide coverage even in wider, more open venues. When placed on its side, its monitor sound projects well upwards towards the intended position on stage: Here, the vertical dispersion angle of 60° ensures that its sound doesn't blend with other monitor wedges too much. To get the most out of an ELX200-10, it's best used with a power amp or powered mixer operating at 8 ohms. For complete security and added flexibility on stage, speaker cables are securely connected via a Speaker Twist input on the rear, and the audio signal can also be passed on through an additional Speaker Twist output.
As a full-range speaker, the EV ELX200-10 is a solid option for bands who spend most of their time in rehearsal rooms or on smaller stages. However, they should be prepared to add a subwoofer for the lowest frequencies. On its own, it's a great choice for singer-songwriters who need a flexible unit to pair with a powered mixer – it offers more than enough output to fill intimate venues or outdoor spots. In clubs with their own PA systems, the ELX200-10 can serve as a portable monitor speaker for travelling artists. For background music in bars, it can also be run through a suitable mixer amp. And finally, mobile DJs can expand their setup with this model for additional full-range support.
Electro-Voice (or just EV) was founded in 1927 and has been dedicated to building sound reinforcement systems and microphones since the 1930s. The firm, originally based in Indiana, USA, is considered one of the industry pioneers and has developed many new technologies still in use today. For example, their hum-cancelling coil was not only a milestone for microphone construction, but also was at the origin of the humbucker pickups still used in many guitars. In the long history of the company, Electro-Voice has constantly expanded its offer and today sells a wide range of products for sound reinforcement tasks from entry to professional levels.
With its 36mm pole mount, the EV ELX200-10 can be fitted to standard speaker stands, allowing it to project sound over the moshpit even if the stage itself isn't high enough. For permanent installations, it's also equipped with M10 three suspension points. Standing just over 50cm tall, the speaker is well suited to everyday transport, as its polypropylene enclosure keeps the weight under 14kg and its two carrying handles make it easy to lift and move. For protection against dust and moisture, there's a custom-fit cover (Art. No. 427328): An optional wall mount is also available for easier installation (Art. No. 427334).
