The ESI nEar i7 is an active two-way studio monitor designed as a successor to the popular aktiv 05, offering a detailed frequency response from 39Hz to 20kHz. It delivers standout performance in the low-midrange, setting it apart at its price point. Featuring an integrated digital signal processor, the monitor can be fine-tuned to suit different room acoustics using a shelving EQ. Alongside its standard "Mix & Listen" mode, it also includes a reference-grade setting for monitoring applications in demanding listening environments. The rear panel provides versatile connectivity with both XLR and unbalanced jack inputs. Compact yet powerful, the nEar i7 is a reliable and flexible choice for any professional or project studio.

Optimise audio performance with built-in DSP technology

The ESI nEar i7 features a 6.5" woofer, which delivers 50 watts of power and is crafted from robust paper fibres - an environmentally conscious material. This is paired with a 1" silk dome tweeter driven by a 40-watt amplifier. Both drivers are powered by a high-efficiency Class D amplifier, with a crossover point set at 2kHz to ensure smooth frequency separation. On the front panel, the monitor features a bass reflex port for enhanced low-end response and a status LED that flashes when signal distortion occurs. The rear panel includes two balanced inputs, a volume control capable of outputting up to 93dB SPL, and a shelving EQ for adjusting high and low frequencies. The EQ offers four selectable settings (+2dB, 0dB, -1.5dB, and -3dB), enabling precise tuning to suit various acoustic environments.

Ideal for stereo and surround productions

To achieve optimum stereo imaging, a pair of ESI nEar i7 monitors should be positioned at ±60° angles, forming an equilateral triangle with the listener. This setup ensures equal distance from each speaker to the listening position for a balanced and immersive sound field. For surround sound configurations, two additional monitors can be placed at ±110°, with a centre speaker directly in front of the listener - all positioned at the same distance for consistent spatial accuracy. The nEar i7 also boasts an energy-saving standby mode, which activates automatically after extended periods of inactivity. This feature can be deactivated by toggling the Character switch three times in succession. A brief flash from the front-facing status LED confirms the change, offering added convenience and user control.
