Works great, but with a design failure

Just a simple Dutch AV technician. 13.01.2026

As an AV technician I mounted quite a lot 19" gear in racks for the last 30 years.

But never ever have I had this bad rack mounting. The rack ears have to mounted to the device with tape. (!)

It's already hard to place the tape in a way that rack ears are at thesame height. But its even worse that the tape doesnt hold on. So now when I connect a midi connector in the front, I push the device into the 19" rackmount.

Who designed this! Why isnt it possible just to mount the rack ears with screws like Sennheiser does with the wireless receivers, or Ubiquiti network devices.

Im am still amazed, it actually took the fun away of using the device.

Werkt goed, alleen het is jammer dat hij zelf gaat bekijken wat midi in en out is. Dat loopt namelijk nogal eens mis... Ook met stroom en USB power samen gaat het niet goed. Ik loop er regelmatig mee te vechten en dat voor een toch aanzienlijke prijs... je kan er wel 16 apparaten op zetten... en de clock is super strak.

Ingezet voor meerdere midi synths en drumcomputers , de ingesteld in flstudio 2026 deze word direct herkent via de usb aansluiting. Met 16 poorten en prima hub zonder ingewikkelde software

Great thing for a very good price

I own few synths and drum machines, most of them communicate via good old midi DIN (some have humming ground loops while used via midi USB, and some don't have USB at all). The unit is easy to plug and play with Ableton, and USB hub is very handy as well.
Not a whole 5 star because of the not very useful rack ears improvisation that comes with the unit. It's an external pair of ears, fits well on the sides of the unit but meant to be hold in place using double side stickers (supplied in the box). Will simply not hold... I've used some duct tape to attach to unit, and it's in the non visible side of rack so I'll live with that.
