Dimarzio VV 54 Pro used as a neck pickup - very nice

I was looking for a good neck pickup to pair with a Dimarzio Virtual solo bridge and Heavy Blues 2 middle pickups (which are both wonderful pickups). I chose the 54 Pro and am delighted with it. It has a high enough output when used in the neck position to balance well with the Virtual solo and HB2. And even though it was probably originally intended to be used as a bridge pickup it works very well as a neck pickup with a really nice woody, bluesy tone. It was just what I was looking for really. I have never much liked the skinny output wires that Dimarzio use, that's one area where the competition does a better job hence only 4 stars for quality, but the sound can't be faulted

I purchased this pick up to sit in the middle position of my alder bodied strat. It is placed adjacent to another 54 pro in the neck position and a virtual heavy blues in the bridge. All that is said on dimarzio' s web page is true!!!

The sound is sweet when played clean with plenty of bite as you dig in or increase the gain. The bridge and middle position is very bluesy.

All in all a fantastic pickup

This pickup replaced the Area series in the middle position. The sound has become much better. Amazing sound pickup
