DAddario Woodwinds VENN Tenor Saxophone 2.0

I am sold to synthetic reeds since quite a while, having been using Legérè reeds for a few years. Although I love my American Cut reeds, I feel at times that they miss some energy on the upper registry. The VENN reed satisfied that need for more expression and more vibrant, richer tone.

While I am quite happy with them, there are a couple things that I am not 100% satisfied with. First, D'Addario really should sell half strengths (something like: 1.75 and 2.25, while now only 2.0 and 2.5 are available) because the VENN I'm using (2.0) is slightly too soft for me, but the 2.5 is way too hard. Second thing I am not happy with is the reed behavior on the palm keys (which, again, might be due to the fact that I should use a slightly harder reed). With these caveats in mind, the VENN is now my reed of choice: warm tone, responsive, flexible, I feel I can play almost any genre with it!

Ja, es ist anders zu spielen und fühlt sich anders an. Und ja, es benötigt etwas Zeit sich daran zu gewöhnen.
Und ACHTUNG es ist definitiv kein Anfängerblatt, rein schon von der Stärke her: das 2.0 entspricht einem 2.5-3.0 anderer Hersteller, das 2.5 ist nochmals härter und höher gehen ist wirklich Hardcore… im wahrsten Sinne des englischen Wortes… :-)
Aber hey, was das Blatt einem versierteren Spieler liefert ist einmalig!!! Auf jeder Bühne und bei jedem Gig - mag es heiss und trocken oder kalt und nass sein - es performt immer gleich fantastisch! Ein Pause zwischen den Sets? Kein Problem das Blatt ist immer einsatzbereit. Allein das spricht schon für ein Kunststoffblatt.
Darum habe ich alle auf dem Markt erhältlichen Blätter in verschiedenen Stärken probiert (hat mich ein Vermögen gekostet…). Und das VENN ist mit grossem Abstand das beste Blatt!
Mal ein Gig im Jazzkeller: du suchst einen schönen warmen weichen Klang, auch mal mit leisen Subnotes? Das VENN bringt es!
Dann mit der R&B-Band ein Solo wo du durchdringen musst? Das VENN geht locker in die höchsten High Notes, kann auch richtig laut und bleibt über den ganzen Gig konsistent! Wow!
Es tönt wenn richtig daran gewöhnt wie das beste Holzblatt aus einer 20-er Box. Es macht alles mit, wirklich alles! Und es ist im Proberaum immer genau gleich wie auf der Bühne, allein schon das gibt einem unglaubliche Sicherheit, denn es ist immer gleich zu spielen und man kann sich drauf verlassen dass es nicht nach 2 Stunden plötzlich nachlässt (wie das Légère und viele andere machen).
Aber nochmals KEIN Anfängerblatt. (Bemerkung: Einem Anfänger würde ich eher ein Légère Signature empfehlen, das ist auch sehr gut, und die gibt es auch noch weicher (das 2.0 ist bei Légère deutlich weicher); es ist aber über eine längere Spuelzeit nicht ganz so konsistent, in den High Notes nicht so stabil und kann nicht diese Dynamik eines VENN.)
Für mich einfach ein Traum zum spielen! Grosse Empfehlung!
