Celestion Ruby 12" 8 Ohm

There isn't a ton of information or review about this speaker but I can assure you it does what it promises on the box.
I'm using it together with a 1980 Fender 30 (30 watts), a somewhat controversial amp. It seems to be a 'love-hate' thing with most people. In my opinion all it needed was a speaker-upgrade!

The balance between highs and lows, the 'thumb' and clarity in this thing is astonishing. I've previously used 3 different speakers with this amp, prices ranging between €80 and €120.
None of those performed as well balanced as the Celestion Ruby.

I'll give it 4/5 overall because of the price. I'm not regretting the buy but it should be at least €50 cheaper.

As a guitar player who doesn't have any stock part of the rig and customizes everything I can tell that Celestion Alnico speaker is best upgrade to my tone I have ever done. Not the amp, not pickups, not wiring, not isolated power supply, not 4mm main lead with EMI/RFI filters with audio-grade fuse and hifi power plug, not power conditioner, but amp speaker. This is where 90% of your guitar tone is born.

I refret my guitars, replace pickups, put treble bleed together with 50s wiring, upgrade every part of the rig, put cascade of overdrive and booster with high quality interconnects. Every step helps and I can hear clear improvement in the tone and noise floor reduction but stock amp speaker ruins most of such improvements. The weakest link in rig's chain was Boss Katana 50 speaker, overrated amplifier with stock speaker but top quality amplifier when speaker is upgraded. Have you tried budget amp with high quality speaker? It changes everything.

The lesson learnt, stock ceramic magnet ruins guitar tone. Now Alnico magnet speaker restored all the potential and customizations I have done, every little component plays its role in overall sound and it sounds fantastic now.

Now Boss Katana 50 sounds better than Artist I used in the guitar store but one significant downside is now I hear almost no treble. Is it good? Initially I was dissapointed because I compared it to stock speaker sound. But after two weeks of using this speaker I realized the guitar tone cuts through the mix much better now. I can compensate loss of treble with guitar pedals eq knob if I need to.

Customization to my guitar rig isn't over, many parts will change but Celestion Ruby will stay 100%, highly recommended.

Eine Bewertung für einen Gitarrenspeaker ist immer eine recht subjektive Sache. Gitarristen und ihre Geschmäcker sind zu unterschiedlich. Warum mögen sonst manche den G12T-75, welcher harsch wie eine Motorsäge ist. Warum mögen so viele den Vintage 30, welcher nasal und matt wie eine Tröte ist. Die Antwort ist, weil sie perfekt in eine bestimmte Stilrichtung oder zu einem bestimmten Amp passen. Es gibt jedoch ganz ganz wenige Speaker, die sich wirklich Allrounder nennen dürfen. Aber was ist an einem Allrounder denn so toll. Niemand will doch in ein Restaurant gehen, welches Gerichte aus aller Welt anbietet. Das kann doch nichts sein oder...? Wer jedoch einmal einen G12-65 gespielt hat und sich damit in mehreren Genres bewegt hat, der wird wissen, dass dieser Speaker, egal ob Blues, Pop, Rock oder Metal, stets die reinste Freude zu spielen ist. Was kann der G12-65 jedoch nicht. Na ganz klar, er hat halt nicht den "Alnico-Chime". Er ist halt ein Keramik-Speaker. Kennt jemand von euch einen echten Alnico-Allrounder, also ich nicht. Hab noch keinen Jensen oder Weber oder Celestion (Blue-Gold-Cream) gehört der alle Stile stets mit einem Grinsen im Gesicht absolviert. Bis jetzt. Und wenn jetzt jemand behauptet, der Ruby sei ja ein "Vintage-Sound" Speaker und wie soll der jemals in Metalgefilden zurechtkommen, dem sei gesagt. Ja er ist ein Vintage-Sound Speaker. Aber jagt mal einen Mid-Scooped Marshall JVM aus dem Ruby und euch vergeht Hören und Sehen. Schließt danach z.B einen Fender 57er an, und ihr habt die glasklarsten Höhen und die "sweetesten" Mitten, die ich sonst nur vom Alnico Cream kenne. Endergebnis = Mein neuer Lieblingsallrounder! Mir reichen die 35 Watt locker. Wie laut solls denn sonst sein. Heutzutage reißt doch eh kein Mensch mehr 100W Amps auf. Will ja auch keiner später n Hörgerät tragen.

Monté dans un cabinet 1X12 open back oversized fabriqué sur mesure par un artisan en aulne massif.
Je le branche principalement avec des amplis Fender Blackface (Tremolux de 1966 et Princeton de 1966).
Contrairement aux autres Celestion AlNiCo en ma possession ( Blue/ Cream et Gold 10) ce Ruby est très doux dans les aigues et possède des qualité sonores que l'on retrouve chez le Greenback G12m à savoir de beau médiums bien ronds.
Il permettra d'adoucir les amplis un peu criards tel que le Vox AC 30.
Il encaisse très bien les gros taux de saturation, par exemple j'obtient de très bons résultats en branchant une pédale REVV G3 (très grosse disto) en amont de ma tête Tremolux de 1966, on croirait presque jouer sur un 5150 :D
Un haut parleur surprenant et très polyvalent.
