Top microfoon

Eerlijke microfoon, geen echte eigen kleuring, heel neutraal. Perfect voor drums; door de afmeting van de kop zit hij zelfs op een 8" tom niet in de weg. Aanrader!

The context: birch drumkit 6-ply. Small homestudio on my attic.Console: Soundcraft Signature22mtk

I really love these mics!
I have a pair of these on my floortoms due to leaking from my ridecymbal. I tried it with the D57's but that was bad phasing. The TG D57c's now are covering my racktoms. Great solution!

Okay, it is not the mic for rental companies, therefore it is much to breakable. The open/bright sound is so much more workable if you tune the drumkit like a pro. If not, stay with the md604's and stuff!
And don't hit it too much... They are still condenser...

Great sounding mic

Got to work with this mic when the Thomas Lang's tour manager insisted on using them since he was also a representative of Beyerdynamic, and was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of the mics making it top choice for my own setup.

Great and clear sounding mics. Dial in enough HPF, and careful gaining provides quick and workable results from the get-go.

Biggest downside with this specific model is the relatively short gooseneck: the first drums I mic'ed after taking ownership was a Tama set with a rather big separate lug system making it hard to place the mic correctly without effectively dismantling part of the drum. The clip went on the lug without a problem, but the gooseneck was just too short, Worked perfectly om the floor toms. So, get two of these for floors, and get two 57's for rack toms

Neck not flexible enough — get the d57 instead!

The shorter neck of this version may seem like you can place the mic lower/closer to the rim, compared to the d57. However, the opposite is true. The longer neck of the 57 can be twisted so that you can place the mic at any angle/position relative to the drumhead. The neck of the d58 can not be twisted this much, so you have a very limited set of positions you can put the mic in.

Just get the D57, it’s even slightly cheaper!
