Cut the spectrum with precision

The Behringer Swords is a dual analogue multimode filter for Eurorack, based on a community-driven open-source design. Thanks to its clever architecture and CV-rich control options, it covers a wide tonal range – from smooth and rounded to aggressive and saturated. The adjustable input stage supports everything from subtle overdrive to pronounced wavefolding, while the two filter sections can be used independently, linked, or as a true stereo pair. Swords is a thoughtfully designed module offering musical, high-quality filtering in both mono and stereo applications.

Behringer Swords

Dual multimode filters with analogue muscle

The Behringer Swords features two identical filter sections built around a modern version of the legendary 2164 chip. Each filter offers a continuously morphable response from low-pass to band-pass to high-pass, with a 12dB slope. For steeper filtering, both sections can be routed in series – fully variable via the Routing control – for a 24dB effect. A parallel mode is also available for stereo operation or contrasting filter types. The two filters can be linked for unified control, and a Shift function allows creative musicmakers to offset the cutoff frequencies while still modulating them together. Each section includes dedicated 'attenuverters' (combined attenuators and inverters) for cutoff and resonance, giving users precise control over modulation depth.

Flexible routing and creative modulation

All major parameters of the Behringer Swords module – cutoff, resonance, filter mode, routing, and input drive – can be controlled via CV. An additional V/Oct input allows for accurate key tracking or the use of the filter as a voltage-controlled oscillator when self-oscillating. The Drive circuit is not only gain-adjustable, but also CV-modulatable, enabling dynamically animated distortion ranging from soft saturation to biting wavefolding. Thanks to its smooth, continuous routing and morphing capabilities, Swords invites users to experiment with in-between filter modes and evolving textures that extend far beyond static filtering.

About Behringer

The company, which was founded in Germany by Uli Behringer and now manufactures its products in China, has been known for affordable and great-value equipment since its very first product, the Studio Exciter F. An array of mixing consoles (such as the Eurodesk MX8000), signal processors, and later sound amplification and monitoring equipment, has made it possible for countless musicians to fit out their home studios, practice rooms, and mobile PAs within budget limits that were previously unthinkable. The acquisition of other companies, including Midas, Klark Teknik, and TC Electronic, meant that new product groups were added - and also resulted in the technical expertise of these companies being incorporated into product development.

A versatile filter for modern modular setups

Like all Behringer Eurorack modules, Swords is aimed at creative musicians and modular newcomers alike. Despite its affordability, it offers high-grade analogue tone and surprising depth. Its drive stage lends itself to dramatic filter distortion on drums, loops, or samples, while the stereo functionality makes even very detailed spatial processing a reality. The module's intuitive front panel includes clear LED indicators and a Shift button for alternate functions, helping musicians stay in control even as their modulations get more complex. Whether used for subtle enhancement, extreme signal mangling, or creative stereo shaping, Behringer Swords is a powerful and musical filtering tool.

MI Blades Clone in günstig
