Sequencing for the studio and the stage
Arturia's KeyStep Pro is a 37-note polyphonic sequencer and controller designed to coordinate hardware, modular and software instruments from a single central command unit. Combining a three-octave Slimkey keyboard with four independent sequencer tracks and a dedicated drum mode, it extends the KeyStep concept into full performance territory. Each track supports 64-step patterns with up to 16 notes per step, while a crisp OLED display, illuminated step buttons, per-key LED feedback, and touch strips keep editing immediate and visually clear. Track 1 can alternatively function as a 24-part drum sequencer. Pattern chaining, scene recall, and project storage are integrated directly into the workflow, alongside extensive CV, drum gate, MIDI, and clock connectivity. More than a controller, KeyStep Pro functions as a structured compositional and performance centrepiece, capable of shaping entire arrangements from a single surface.
Deep sequencing architecture
The Arturia KeyStep Pro is built around four independent polyphonic sequencer tracks, each capable of 64-step patterns with up to 16 notes per step. Patterns can be recorded in real time, entered step by step, or edited directly from the illuminated step buttons, with per-step control over pitch, velocity, gate length, timing, and probability. Sixteen patterns per track can be chained into longer structures, while Scenes recall complete multitrack states for live arrangement. The first track can also switch to a dedicated 24-part drum sequencer, with individual lanes and polyrhythmic length control. A performance looper strip enables instant fills and rhythmic breakdowns, while the arpeggiator offers multiple playback modes across a five-octave range. Together, these tools support structured composition and real-time arrangement across hardware and hybrid systems.
For performance-focused setups
KeyStep Pro is aimed at musicians who require centralised, hands-on control across multi-instrument environments. Hardware performers can run several synths, drum machines, and modular voices simultaneously, assigning each track to a dedicated MIDI or CV destination. Producers working with DAWs can sequence external gear while remaining tightly synchronised to computer-based sessions. Because each track can function as either a sequencer or arpeggiator, it adapts easily to melodic lines, harmonic structures, or rhythmic programming within the same project. Scene recall, pattern chaining and the Looper strip encourage dynamic arrangement in real time, making it particularly suited to live sets where structure and spontaneity must coexist. For complex hybrid setups, it provides the structural depth required to move from sketch to full arrangement without changing tools.
About Arturia
Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Since then, the former software developer has thus also become a household name in the world of analogue synthesizers and other equipment.
Connectivity and CV/Gate control
Connectivity is central to KeyStep Pro's role within advanced setups. USB provides bus power and MIDI communication with DAWs and software instruments, while a 12V power input supports standalone use. Full-size MIDI In and dual MIDI Out ports connect directly to external hardware, with the two outputs mirroring each other for flexible routing. Four independent CV/Gate/Mod output groups can address up to four monophonic voices or be combined for polyphonic modular sequencing, complemented by eight additional drum gate outputs. Clock In, Clock Out, and Reset connections keep vintage and modern gear synchronised, while the integrated metronome features both a built-in speaker and a dedicated line output for external monitoring. Whether anchoring a DAW-based studio or a fully hardware rig, the Arturia KeyStep Pro unifies MIDI, CV, and analogue clock control within a single surface.
In the spotlight
A complete production starter suite
Arturia's KeyStep Pro ships with a focused software package designed to complement its hardware sequencing workflow. Analog Lab Intro provides access to 500 curated presets drawn from Arturia's instrument catalogue, offering a broad range of synth, keyboard, and hybrid sounds with streamlined macro-based control. Ableton Live Lite delivers a compact version of Ableton's production environment for recording, arranging, and exporting within a DAW-based setup. Installation and firmware updates are managed via the Arturia Software Center. As bundled software may evolve over time, the manufacturer's website should be consulted for the most current package details. Detailed tutorials and manuals are also available online for users wishing to explore its deeper sequencing and performance functions.
