Zultan's Q Series is a range of medium-weight, hand-hammered Turkish cymbals made of B20 bronze, which are striking because of their unusual appearance. The different surface treatments are not only pleasing to the eye, but also have an effect on the sound. The result is a sound that can be used in many different styles, cuts through well, and at the same time has a dark, warm sonic range. The affordable Q Series is aimed at ambitious beginners and more advanced drummers, and comprises individual hi-hats, crashes, splashes, and rides, as well as pre-configured complete sets.

Opposites attract attention

While the completely lathed and high-gloss polished underside of the Q cymbals is similar to the popular Zultan Rock Beat series, the upper side is absolutely unique. The rim, which is covered with deep hammer indentations, is unlathed, as is the bell – this raw, earthy look creates a strong contrast to the high-gloss centre. The manual craftsmanship of Zultan's experienced Turkish cymbal smiths makes each cymbal really unique. The 23" ride has a powerful, dynamic, full sound with a slightly dark character and medium sustain.

One letter – many uses

The Zultan Q cymbals are in the medium weight category and are ideal for genres such as Pop, Funk, and Blues thanks to their warm and balanced sound and their slightly reduced treble range. Their sound always blends homogeneously into their musical surroundings, leaving plenty of room for the other instruments. With its full-bodied, carrying sound, which always remains controlled even when playing more powerfully, the 23" ride provides a dark soundscape combined with a clearly defined stick sound and a dry and distinctive bell. When playing with larger sticks, drummers can also coax out monumental crash sounds from this cymbal.

The Q Series does it all

Another possible use is in the mixed genres of acoustic and electronic music that are so popular these days, in which darker-sounding cymbals are preferred, as their profile suits the overall atmosphere better. I have the 19 inch crash and was overwhelmed by the versatility and depth it produced, both in a live and studio setting.
I decided to take my chances with the 23 inch ride cymbal.
Was it a gamble? No, I knew the limits and variety of the Q series crash, so I expected good things.
This cymbal really cuts through when needed and the raw edge combined with the raw bell and polished centre allows for subtlety and sheer volume whenever the moment takes you.
Again, like the 19 inch Q series crash the uses both live and in the studio really shine through.
low volume you can hear the warmth and sustain and at full volume it is an impressive cymbal.
This is a very versatile cymbal and you shouldn't miss the opportunity to check out the Q series range from Zultan.
You can use this (and I have) for many styles and it never fails to impress.

Très bon son quand elle est "ridée", profond et précis. Beau grain!
Un petit manque de volume quand elle est "crashée". Elle a tendance à disparaître un chouilla dans le mix. Après, tout le monde ne crashe pas une ride de 23"!
En tout cas, très, très heureux de trouver une vraie bonne ride de 23" à un prix si bas! Bravo!

Das Zultan 23" Q Ride hat meiner Meinung nach eine sehr ansprechende Klangfarbe. Es kann von einem dunkleren und leiseren Sound bis zu einen sehr hellen Sound variieren. Wenn es am Rand angeschlagen wird, bekommt man den dunklen Ton der vorallem bei leiseren Songs live eingesetzt werden kann, Da er sich gut in die restliche Musik einfügt. Bei lautern Songs oder im Refrain, kann man mit dem Stick etwas in die Mitte des Ride - Beckens wandern, wodurch ein hellerer Sound entsteht der sich hervorragend über die Musik legt und hervorsticht. Eine besondere Ausnahme bietet in diesem Fall auch die Bell. Diese ist in diesem Fall sehr hell und etwas größer ausgefallen, was es möglich macht diese auch zu verwenden, ohne einen zu hellen Sound zu bekommen und mit etwas Fingerspitzengefühl kann man sich auch ohnen weiteres in Fill ins einbauen. Kurzum finde ich, dass das Zultan 23" Q Ride ein sehr gutes Becken für den Jazz, Funk und Rock - Bereich ist, und kann es jedem, der in diesem Berecih aktiv ist, nur weiter empfehlen.
