Arranger performance, made accessible

Yamaha PSR-SX620, arranger keyboard for live performances

The Yamaha PSR‑SX620 is a 61‑key arranger workstation that brings much of the current PSR‑SX performance workflow to a more accessible tier. Succeeding the PSR‑SX600, it combines a redesigned control surface with an expanded sound library, Chord Looper, hands‑on performance controls, Bluetooth audio, and a newly developed speaker system. Its AWM Stereo Sampling engine provides over 1,000 instrument Voices, 51 Drum/SFX kits, 480 XG Voices, and 450 accompaniment Styles, backed by 128‑note polyphony and Super Articulation technology. A 61‑key organ‑type keyboard with adjustable touch response, a 4.3" colour display, joystick controller, and two assignable Live Control knobs provide direct access to the instrument's performance functions. Bluetooth audio input adds wireless playback from mobile devices, while the integrated 2×15W speaker system makes the PSR‑SX620 a self‑contained instrument for practice, songwriting, rehearsal, and performance.

Expressive Voices, inside and out

The PSR-SX620's extensive Voice library covers acoustic and electronic instruments across a broad range of genres, with Super Articulation (S.Art) Voices reproducing characteristic playing nuances – guitar string noise, saxophone slides, and other performance details – in response to the player's touch. The factory library can be expanded via approximately 380MB of dedicated Voice expansion memory, with additional Voice and Style Expansion Packs managed through Yamaha's Expansion Explorer app across mobile and desktop devices. The newly developed speaker system – featuring an internal bassport, enlarged internal sound chamber, and front‑facing bass‑reflex design – extends low‑end response while retaining clarity and balance. Upgraded line‑output circuitry provides a cleaner, more robust signal when connecting the instrument to external speakers, PA systems, or recording equipment.

Your backing band, under control

Whether playing weddings, restaurants, community events, or solo gigs, performers can use the PSR‑SX620 to recreate the sound of a full band from a single keyboard. Its 450 accompaniment Styles follow chord changes in real time, with One Touch Settings instantly recalling suitable voices and effects. Chord Looper can maintain progressions while the player focuses on solos, vocals, or audience engagement. Multi Pads add rhythmic and melodic phrases on demand, while Audio Link Multi Pads trigger custom WAV samples. Two assignable Live Control knobs and the joystick enable hands-on adjustments during performance, and Smart Chord can generate complete accompaniment chords from single root notes, making the arranger functions accessible without requiring full chord voicings. Players seeking expanded performance options and a broader sound palette can step up to the PSR‑SX720+ or flagship PSR‑SX920.

About Yamaha

For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.

From preparation to performance

The Yamaha PSR‑SX620 is designed to keep the arranger workflow moving from song preparation through to the stage. A redesigned panel places principal controls directly in front of the player, while Playlist organises songs and settings for quick recall. Eight Registration buttons provide direct access to complete setups, and MIDI Song to Style converts standard MIDI files into ready‑to‑play Styles with intros, endings, main sections, and fill‑ins. A 16‑track MIDI recorder – with Quick, Multi, and Step Recording – makes it easy to build and edit arrangements on the fly, while the built‑in audio recorder captures complete performances. MIDI In/Out, USB‑to‑Host, Aux In, a dedicated microphone input, and stereo line outputs cover home, studio, and stage workflows, with Bluetooth audio adding wireless connectivity for mobile devices.
