Performance Made in Denmark

The BQ250 from the Danish company TC Electronic embraces the modern trend toward smaller, lighter, and yet powerful bass amps, delivering 250 watts of Class D power in a compact housing weighing just over two kilograms, making it idealfor gigs in more intimate or mid-sized. With a 4-band equaliser and switchable compressor, the BQ250 offers versatile sound shaping across multiple styles, while its focus on essentials ensures it remains incredibly easy to use and affordable. For the price of an effects pedal, the TC Electronic BQ250 provides a powerful, portable solution that fits effortlessly into any gig bag, making this device equally suited for the stage or home practice.

Reduced to the maximum

In developing the BQ series, TC Electronic focused on the features and connections that truly matter in practice, resulting in a bass amp stripped down to the essentials without unnecessary extras. The gain control manages the input level while the master control drives the power amplifier, and a 4-band equaliser with bass, low mid, high mid and treble provides a wide range of tonal options. A switchable compressor smooths out peaks and tightens the signal for a more compact, powerful sound, making additional tools for tone shaping unnecessary. And for connectivity, the BQ250 offers a DI Out to send the signal directly to a mixing console or audio interface, while the headphone output and AUX In make it just as useful for quiet practice sessions at home as it is for live performance.

Lightweight and easy to use

Class D amps, with their compact size and low weight, are especially appealing to mobile bassists who'd prefer not to have to haul heavy gear, or who often travel by public transport. This lightweight profile is reflected in its internal features too; the TC Electronic BQ250 is designed above all for players who are happy to do without extras like tuners, built-in effects, or USB connections and instead value straightforward, hassle-free operation. With its clearly laid-out controls and intuitive inputs and outputs, the BQ250 doesn't require bassists to waste their valuable time studying manuals – they can simply switch it on and start playing.

About TC Electronic

The Danish company TC Electronic has been known for its innovative products for many years. It was founded in 1976 by brothers Kim and John Rishøj in Aarhus. The company first made a name for itself with the SCF, a stereo chorus/flanger pedal for guitar. Studio equipment followed during the 80s and 90s, notably the legendary TC2290 digital delay in 19-inch rack format. Since the 2000s, TC Electronic has greatly enriched the guitar and bass scene with amplifiers, cabinets, combos, and effects pedals. Here too, TC's innovative spirit is in evidence, for example with its TonePrint technology and the first polyphonic guitar tuner. TC Electronic has been part of Music Tribe since 2015.

Get loud or stay silent

While it's possible to practise electric bass at home without an amp, it's rarely enjoyable, and amplification often brings volume levels that can be problematic in rented flats or late at night. The TC Electronic BQ250 addresses this by including a headphone output and an input for external sound sources, allowing players to jam along with their favourite tracks or practise to drum loops, with the outside world none the wiser. This completely silent setup not only keeps neighbours and family undisturbed, but also does away with the need for a separate headphone amplifier, making practice both convenient and enjoyable.

Nice sound, light, solid and reasonably priced.

I really like this amp head. After playing a super heavy Hartke combo for 20+ years, I needed something lighter, but with enough power and flexible tone controls.

The eq is nice and musical. The eq-frequencies have been well selected. The low mid control is extremely helpful for cutting some mud, if you need a hi-fi tone. Instant Marcus Miller.

The compressor is good. It takes some time and tweaking to find a suitable amount/treshold of compression, but this applies compressors in general.

I have easily found a good sound for my fretless 5-string bass as well as for my fretted 6-string with this amp, without any pedals. I also cannot imagine a situation where I would need a more powerful amp than this.

Great first bass amp even as a backup. No bells and whistles but I honestly think it puts many, more expensive heads to shame!! It's silent (no fan), the 4 band EQ is very good, very portable and light unit with headphones out & aux in. At this price you cannot go wrong.

I love this little monster !

Such a Massive sounding little amp , Really big and focused tone , the built in Thrust compressor is as nice a compressor as many compressors that would cost more than this amp ! the whole amp behaves amazingly from big warm compressed tones , to dynamic and very focused slap tones . whether used into a cab or taking the balanced out to a PA .

Had it for 3 years now. It's a nice amp with really good features and a really good sound. It's well built and it's quite cheap for the quality you are getting. Decent compressor too. The line in is vey useful for my drum machine and you can use this amp with headphones too for silent practice. Overall, a great buy ! Very happy with it !
