Tama LST148 Sound Lab Snare

A VERY nice addition to my Tama Rockstar DX shell set.
The sound is full and Heavy. I tried this snare with different tunings and as well as in high and low tuning, the sound is just powerfull in all tunings. Great attack and dispite being a steel shell, the sound still is warm. I play in a symphonic metal band and I have decided to go with a lower tuning. It cuts through the music like a snare should do. The 8.5 inch depth of the shell really adds alot to the volume. This is by far the loudest snare I have played. But this does not mean it is an on stage snare only, you can also use this in the rehearsal room as well, even with less volume. On stage I use very thick drumsticks to get that awsome volume out, and for softer songs I use thinner sticks.
The only thing that kinda disapointed me was the cloth strap that holds the snares against the bottom head. The metal parts did cut through it within 2 two months and I only play once a week. Good service from Thomann, they send me a free replacement. I do advice this drum to those people with a lower budget who still want a great sound. Very good for loud music styles such as most metals, and surely for stoner rock as well.
