The Shure GLXD14+ is a digital wireless system for instruments and microphones. This dual-band design can be operated both cost and licence-free as it works in the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequency ranges and has a transmission output of 10mW, which provides a range of up to 60m. The system's automatic frequency management technology means that it always selects the signal frequency with the best reception, and the system can also switch to interference-free carrier frequencies automatically during operation without any loss of audio signal. The scope of delivery also includes a rechargeable lithium ion battery for the transmitter, a power adapter for the receiver, an instrument cable, and a carrying case.

Practical battery replacement and firmware solutions

The Shure GLXD14+ digital wireless system generates a digital output signal via an XLR and 6.3mm jack socket and thus according to two different standards. The system additionally includes a USB-C interface to make firmware updates easy to install. Two different options are available for charging the lithium ion battery in the bodypack transmitter: The transmitter's USB-C connection or the battery charging socket on the front of the receiver. In addition to indicating which group and channel is active, the information provided on the receiver's high-resolution LC display also includes how much battery life remains (in hours and minutes) as well as the audio volume level and the signal gain level. The receiver's XLR output is ideal for forwarding the incoming signal to a mixing console, however, there is also the option of tapping the audio output using a jack cable if the intention is to use this to feed amplifiers or small active PA systems.

About Shure

The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. The Shure GLXD14+ is a versatile wireless solution with a bodypack transmitter that is not restricted to operation with instruments, but is also compatible with both lavalier and hand-held microphones as well as headsets, which also makes the system suitable for speakers, moderators, presenters, fitness studios, and dance schools. Top-40 bands and solo entertainers who perform for lengthy periods can also look forward to up to 12 hours of operation on a single battery charge, and the battery level indicator makes it easy to see when the next recharge is needed. Even if only one transmitter can be used with the receiver at once, it is still possible to couple it with two transmitters simultaneously, allowing the user to change microphones or instruments much more quickly. Last but not least, the receiver features a backlit display with three different brightness settings - a blessing on dark stages.

No vuelvo a tocar con cable

Las personas que venían a vernos a la orquesta donde toco me preguntaban que si hacía playback, al ver que el cable iba enchufado a la petaca de mi cinturón. Es súper fácil de utilizar y configurar, y suenas sin cortes y exactamente igual que usando un cable normal; aunque te alejes mucho del receptor.
Se puede cargar otra batería mientras el aparato está encendido y en uso, una característica bastante buena a destacar.
Además viene en un estuche chulísimo, con espacio de sobra incluso para meter otros cables y fuentes de alimentación que necesito para los conciertos.
Como punto negativo, diría que el tiempo de carga COMPLETO de la batería es un poco largo, y luego dura un poquito menos de lo que promete Shure (según el indicador me suele durar unas 12 horas cuando está completa). Aún así, si lo cargas 15 mins tienes como para una hora de funcionamiento aproximadamente, aunque no sé como será de bueno esto para la vida útil de la batería.
Si estás dudando entre comprar esta unidad u otra que funcione por pilas; estoy seguro de que merece la pena gastar un poco más en esta. Llevo usando el producto casi todos los días durante un par de meses y de momento no puedo estar más contento.
