De Shure Beta 87 A is een permanent gepolariseerde condensatormicrofoon van hoge kwaliteit met een supercardioïde richtingskarakteristiek voor vocale opnames, die wordt gekenmerkt door een uitzonderlijk lineair transmissiebereik en een hoge geluidsdrukweerstand. De Beta 87 A heeft een low-frequency roll-off die het nabijheidseffect compenseert en de gevreesde “boomy” effecten van close miking voorkomt.
