Mean bag of grit
Swapped an EMG for this in a Jackson in an ongoing move away from actives and this pickup does the trick nicely. Plenty of output and there seems to be some harshy gravely hint built in to these things, excellent!
I mostly use it in combination with a 5150 which works out nicely. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the name tagging Seymour Duncan do with most of their products but that naturally does not hinder the sound and there's always the option of sanding it off or installing a pickup cover.

Nasty but in a good way
There is a certain gnarl or grittyness to these that no other pickup has. It's almost like a built in distortion/fuzz. I Love them.

Seymour Duncan's best 'heavy' metal pickup
I love these, lots of weight, a ton of mids, none of that scooped sound (call me old fashioned). But there's still control, (not a loose cannon like the X2N or the Slug). I bought a few sets over the years, I still think they are one of the best pickups Seymour Duncan ever made
