My first try to use strings from Europe. Usually I buy the yellow packages from the well known American string producer. And what a fail. Might be I received the first batch from the very early Monday morning. Maybe made by unmotivated and barely sober employees. Maybe made from steel that was delivered on Friday afternoon and was left in the British climate for a weekend. Maybe it was a machine that was just repaired by a mechanic with diabolical agressive sweat or something. Or maybe it's just me that I don't understand what makes a string a good string. Or maybe it's the dozens of other people giving these string 5 star reviews and they don't know anything.
I have 4 electric guitars. Like I said, usually use Ernie Balls and previously also used Fender strings on my Fender guitar. Which don't really made that much sense, but also don't harm since they were decent strings. On my semi hollow body I use Pyramid strings.
So first time to try Rotosound. Bought the blue and yellow ones to test them both. First this blue package. Had already some hesitation on the first sight of the strings. Color and feel weren't really consistent and looked of there already was some corrosion going on.
Sound was good though. And that is worth the 2 stars of my review. But the feel is horrible. From the start they don't felt remotely as smooth as the strings from the American competition. But it quickly got worse. After a week they felt worse. And after 2-3 weeks, whilst I hardly played this guitar since I really dislike the strings, grabbed it again to give it a other fair shot. But my hope was quickly gone. They felt like steel wire that a farmer wouldn't even use anymore to build a fence. It actually didn't even looked that much worse than they looked a few weeks ago. But the feel compared to what I was used from the other brands is like comparing sandpaper to butter.
So I still have the yellow package. But I was so disappointed in the first attempt of this blue package that I used the old and trusted brand again. Bot sure when, or even if, I will try the others. It's not like changing strings is a hobby.
