Share a crystal-clear in-ear signal

Mipro's MI-58 series is aimed at musicians who demand clean and transparent monitoring audio, without the artefacts typical for analogue wireless systems: Because the entire signal path is digital, the sound is free of compression or other technical side-effects that can alter or distort it. The MI-58 Twin Set here combines the system's key components – the stereo transmitter and a wireless receiver – with another receiver that comes with its own charging station and headphones. The transmitter's flexible audio inputs mean two performers can either receive the same stereo signal or their own mono source. As the name suggests, the MI-58 series uses the 5.8GHz frequency band, which is free to use without a licence worldwide – another reason the system is so popular in mobile setups, for smaller stages or rehearsal spaces, or in permanently installed setups.

Mipro MI-58RT, digital in-ear monitoring set

Expressly designed to be easy

The MI-58T is a single-channel transmitter that has been expressly designed for ease-of-use. Selecting the frequency and transmission power is straightforward, with Mipro's proprietary Automatic Channel Targeting technology (ACT) handling synchronisation. The transmitter also offers a range of useful parameters such as switchable input levels, as well as filtering to adjust the audio signal. The combo jacks on the rear allow musicians to connect line and microphone inputs, either as a stereo signal or as a summed mono monitor feed from a single output. It's also possible to transmit a stereo signal in mono, enabling some creative monitoring setups; for instance, two different mono signals can be transmitted at once. Still, the pared-back controls and well-designed menu ensure that it's always clear what's going on, even during a live performance.

Customising the signal

The Mipro MI-58R bodypacks are robust and compact – intended for continuous stage use. The receivers each come with a set of in-ear headphones, so that even beginners have everything they need to get started straight out of the box. They're powered by a rechargeable battery and charged using the docking stations also included. There are a number of key settings that musicians themselves can adjust on the receiver. Besides volume control, functions include fine-tuning the sound, including optimising the highs and lows to personal preference – this really helps make the most of the system's excellent signal quality. Another feature with a genuine practical benefit is the balance function: When receiving a mono-mix signal, made up for instance of separate vocal and instrument channels, a performer can precisely set the relative level of the two sources.

For everyday life on stage

Musicians and technicians looking for clear, clean IEM audio have an ideal solution in Mipro's MI-58 series. Especially in loud live venues, high-quality in-ear transmission improves the band's cohesion and timing, while reducing the overall on-stage volume. It should be noted that the 5.8GHz frequency band is limited technologically to shorter ranges than (for instance) UHF systems, with the shorter wavelength also increasing its susceptibility to physical obstructions: This means that the MI-58 is perfect for reliable monitoring wherever the distances involved are not unusually long. This isn't to say that the system isn't suited to professional use: Alongside the outstanding digital audio quality, the devices themselves are very well made, and clearly designed for frequent installation and transport. The transmitter can even be fitted in a 19" rack with Mipro's own accessories.

About Mipro

Established in 1995 in Chiayi, Taiwan, by wireless and audio engineer K.C. Chang, Mipro has become a leader in high-quality wireless audio systems. Now run by his son Solomon, the company specialises in wireless microphone systems, portable sound systems, in-ear monitoring solutions, tour guide systems, and camera receivers. In 2014, Mipro Germany GmbH was founded in Hardthausen, near Heilbronn, to enhance customer service and ensure smooth delivery across Germany. Mipro adheres to the latest manufacturing standards and holds top-tier classifications from the Electronics Association. In Germany, the company is TÜV-certified under DIN ISO-9001:2000, a testament to its commitment to quality.

The right connections for scalable use cases

Combining near-effortless setup, crystal-clear signal, and stage-ready construction, the MI-58 is an IEM system that can play to its strengths whatever the setting. The transmitter has a set of versatile connections that enable a variety of monitoring setups: The combo jacks on the rear accept XLR mic cables and 6.3mm instrument lines, either as a stereo signal or as a mono monitor feed. Further flexibility is provided by the system's deliberate modularity – more receivers can be added almost without restrictions, and multiple transmitters can also be linked and controlled as one unit, which is a major benefit for larger rigs or permanent installations. But it's still the performance of the technology itself which is most noteworthy here, with the high-quality, low-latency transmission making it suited for all kinds of signals, including vocals and rhythmically unforgiving instruments like drums. All in all, the Mipro MI-58 series offers a coherent balance of clear audio, straightforward operation, and a well‑implemented wireless platform.
