It is a little out of tune, but less so after properly warming up, and only about as much as my plastic Aulos recorders.
For casual practice, this is a great instrument with a pleasant timbre.
It is a little more finicky than plastic recorders in the second octave, but still playable. Baroque fingering is an obvious positive and the supplied cleaning rod is up to the task, and does not shed fluff like others I have used.
