Nearfield monitor stand, serious load capacity
The K&M 26740 is a height-adjustable monitor stand built for nearfield speakers that mean business. Its 35kg load capacity covers most studio monitors in regular use, from compact desktop units to large three-way nearfields. The cast-iron round base keeps the footprint compact at 450mm diameter, making it viable even in smaller control rooms and home studios where floor space around the mix position is limited. Two mounting options accommodate different speaker designs: Speakers with a corresponding base thread mount directly onto the 3/8" connector, while others sit on the supplied 205×245mm plate. Four threaded spikes and four self-adhesive rubber pads are included for acoustic decoupling.

Solid from the base up
At 10kg, the stand's own weight provides stable footing without additional ballast under normal studio conditions. The cast-iron round base distributes that weight evenly across its 450mm diameter, keeping the stand planted with a heavy monitor loaded. Height adjusts between 950mm and 1450mm in 50mm steps via a clamping collar, with a safety hook providing a secondary locking point once the height is set. The 50mm step range covers ear-height monitoring for both seated and standing listening positions, and the incremental system means the same height can be repeated exactly across sessions or matched between a stereo pair.

Decoupling the speaker from the desk surface removes the low-frequency reinforcement that desk-mounted monitors introduce, giving a more accurate representation of the low end when mix decisions matter most. Founded in 1949, König & Meyer (K&M) initially produced music stands and measuring tools. Spikes, pads, and placement
The choice between spikes and rubber pads is a practical one: The threaded spikes minimise the contact surface between speaker and plate, reducing mechanical coupling and the resulting low-frequency colouration – the preferred option for critical listening in a treated room. The rubber pads protect the speaker base and plate surface while still providing a degree of isolation, suiting situations where the floor or surface needs protecting or where the spikes aren't practical. Speakers with a compatible base thread bypass the plate entirely for a more rigid coupling than either other option provide.
