What's another word for a compact speaker that offers a perfectly balanced sound and excellent value for money? Exactly. The JBL Control is a classic. Since it was launched in 1987, it has been constantly improved and the 1 Pro version is many times more powerful than comparable models, so it's worth taking a look at its inner workings. The JBL Control 1 Pro pair, for example, is suitable for classic stereo sound systems. The speakers are well equipped to handle any style of music, although of course they don't generate festival-level volume. Both unusual and extremely practical are the special wall brackets included as standard here, perfect for fixed installations. In addition to this pair in black, the speakers are also available in white.

For balanced sound

Delivering a frequency response of 80Hz to 20,000Hz with a sensitivity of 87dB SPL (1W/1m), the JBL Control 1 Pro can accurately reproduce almost any music users would care to throw at it. In order to achieve this, a 5.25" woofer and a 0.75" tweeter operate in a cabinet made of high-density polypropylene foam, which effectively suppresses unwanted resonances. These compact little units, which have an impedance of 4 ohms, are fed by connecting an amplifier that can provide their power rating of 150W to the passive speakers' spring-loaded terminals using a set of suitable loudspeaker cables.

Installation tips

For a classic stereo setup, simply mount the two brackets onto the right and left speakers and position them equidistantly on any wall – their size and weight mean they'll fit almost anywhere. Then, the speakers can be perfectly aligned using the ball joints. A suitable amplifier is the t.amp E-400 stereo power amplifier, available to buy together with the JBLs in a money-saving bundle. The amp's outputs can be connected to the speakers with cables of almost any length; even a distance of 50m from amp to speaker won't be a problem. And for transporting these flexible little bundles of fun from A to B, Thomann also offers a water-repellent bag that fits both speakers.

Klein, leicht, mit Wandhalterung und sauberem Klang.

Funktionieren einwandfrei mit dem THE T.AMP PM40C, der allerdings die Nutzung der Wandhalterung erschwert.

Auch als preisgünstigere Variante Control 1 (ohne Pro) und als drahtloses (2.4 G AW)System erhältlich. Neuerdings gibt es auch eine aktive Variante (JBL Control 2 PM/PS). Man findet die Control 1 Pro oft in kleineren Studios und Vorführräumen sowie Übertragungswagen, da sie wegen der geringen Abmessungen und magnetischer Schirmung eine günstige Alternative zu Fostex oder K&H darstellen.

Sinnvolles Zubehör ist der K&M Stativadapter und der o.g. T.AMP Rucksackverstärker, der sowohl die 4 als auch die 8 Ohm Variante unterstützt. Für den kleineren Geldbeutel kommt vielleicht die THE BOX TOTAL CONTROL 1 BK MKII in Frage, über die ich aber kein Urteil fällen kann.

Mir fehlen am Rande nur weitere Gewinde, die einen variablen Einsatz der Wandhalterung möglich machen würden- Für den Preis ein kaum schlagbares Angebot.

Gekauft wurden die JBL Pro, um im (recht kleinen) Wohnzimmer in Verbindung mit einem aktiven JBL-Subwoofer als Hauptlautsprecher eingesetzt zu werden.

Positiv fällt in diesem Zusammenhang an der Pro-Version des Control-Lautsprechers auf, dass die Wandhalterungen gleich mitgeliefert werden. Die Verarbeitung der Lautsprecher ist annehmbar. Angesichts des Preises kann man aber nicht mehr erwarten. Klanglich zeigen die Lautsprecher wofür sie entwickelt wurden: als Nahfeldmonitore.

Die klangliche Ausrichtung ist neutral. Wer moderne Hifi-Lautsprecher mit einem ausgeprägten Bass-Bereich erwartet, wird enttäuscht werden. Daher werden sie auch in Verbindung mit einem Subwoofer eingesetzt, da im Wohnzimmer nicht unbedingt die klangliche Neutralität zählt. In dieser Kombination sind sie aber in der Lage, voluminösere Standlautsprecher klanglich zu ersetzten. In der Tat bin ich wieder und wieder überrascht, wie gut diese kleinen Dinger im Mitten- und Höhenbereich klingen.

MONITORES DE ESTUDIO NO SIMETRICOS...

Tienen muy buen sonido para estudio, sobre todo en brillo, pero tienen un problema para usarlos como monitores de campo cercano de estudio: QUE NO SON SIMETRICOS, SON IGUALES, con lo que nunca quedan perfectamente centrados los tweter de agudos... Deberían avisarlo. Por lo demás están muy bien siempre que se refuercen con subgraves.

Wer Qualität im oberen Bereich zum mittleren Preis sucht, ist hier richtig. Die Control-1-Boxen bieten die bekannte, solide Qualität von JBL. Größte Klangqualität auf kleinstem Raum! Schön anzuhören und anzusehen (Formgebung, sowie die Farbe in edelm schwarz oder weiß)! Auch die Montage macht "Freude": schnelle Anbringung an Wand oder Decke, durch das stabile Kugelgelenk in alle Richtung fixierbar und auch nachträglich korrigierbar.

Das dezente Design macht die Boxen nutzbar in allen möglichen Bereichen. Ich selbst habe sie fast unsichtbar und versteckt im Foyer einer Kirchengemeinde montiert. Spätestens beim Erleben des druckvollen, brillianten Klangs weiß man aber, daß sich die Boxen nicht verstecken müssen....!
