The Harley Benton Block-800B is an affordable bass amplifier head that packs an impressive wealth of features into its compact, lightweight frame. These include a class D, ICE power stage (something usually reserved for much higher-priced models) that delivers an 800-watt output, alongside two speaker twist sockets for connecting external speakers (minimum requirement 4 ohms), an effects loop, a four-band EQ section that allows the user to fine-tune their sound settings, a DI output in XLR format with lift/ground and pre/post switches, a tuner output, and a smart compressor. What is more, the front panel features 3.5mm connections for headphones and mobile devices such as smartphones and MP3 players, perfect for practising after hours. Altogether, the Block-800B thus gives bass players a comprehensive package at a budget-friendly price.

Flexible with plenty of headroom

The Harley Benton Block-800B operates with very little noise and provides plenty of clean headroom. Mild breakup is still possible, and any clipping is indicated by an LED on the front panel. Setting all of the amp's controls to the 12 o'clock position will deliver a very clear and neutral-sounding tone, and players can easily dial in their desired sound from there using the four-band EQ. The Block-800B's mute and high-low switches give the user even more control, the latter allowing both active and passive basses to be used. To top it all off, the smart compressor can be activated whenever needed in order to provide compression without loss of volume. The Block 800B's two rear-mounted speaker outputs provide plenty of scope for the user to assemble a bass rig that can make full use of its 800 watts and handle any gig with ease, while the tuner and DI outputs, which can tap the signal either before or after the tone control and compressor via the pre/post switch, will also come in very useful on stage.

Uitstekende eindversteker !

Al een hele tijd verbaas ik mij er over dat er nauwelijks compacte lichtgewicht eindversterkers voor basgitaar worden gemaakt. Mijn oog viel twee jaar geleden op deze, weliswaar "complete", versterker van Harley Benton. In recensies zag ik dat verschillende mensen hem naar tevredenheid als eindversterker gebruiken. Nou, proberen dus, voor 300 euro kon ik mij geen buil vallen.
Intussen gebruik ik hem al een tijdje en ik ben zeer tevreden. Hij geeft het signaal van mijn Alembic F1-X voorversterker via de effectsreturn ongekleurd door naar mijn David Eden cabinetjes. Eigenlijk niet anders dan te verwachten, want het is dezelfde ICE-power eindversterker die in verschillende veel duurdere lichtgewichtversterkers van andere merken wordt gebruikt. Complimenten!!!
Het voorversterkerdeel vind ik van gemiddelde kwaliteit, dus gewoon waarde voor het geld, maar die gebruik ik dus niet.

Een tip voor Thomann: produceer deze versterker ook zonder het voorversterkerdeel. Mijns inziens een gat in de markt: het barst intussen van de losse voorversterkers. Als enige betaalbaar alternatief zie ik alleen de Markbass Vintage Amp 1000, en die is pas kort op de markt en kost 699 euro.

Gebruik de top icm 4x10 kast van HB in een Cliff&Shadows band.
Klinkt perfect, zeer prettig in gewicht, meer dan voldoende power.
Ik ben nog steeds flabbergasted ivm klank, volume, gewicht en mogelijkheden.

Gewoon een hele goede versterker

Deze versterker heeft mij verbaasd, een hele goede versterker voor een verrassend lage prijs. Ik heb in het verleden hele dure versterkers gehad (Ashdown, Markbass) en gebruik nu ook een Eich. Had snel voor korte tijd een backup-versterker nodig en koos deze. En hij doet echt heel weinig onder voor de topmerken.

My Humble Opinion

The title is vague huh? Well all I'm saying and this is my Humble opinion. 27+years live performance. Not gonna give you my resume but I have lived a little. Maybe you're like me and saw the stats and the price and here you are. I didn't hesitate to buy for obvious reasons. And they're not getting this one back don't even ask. Thomann backs up their product. The results:
Well, well well, that's where all the power is hiding. In this head.
Sound: there is none, well Kinda. You provide the sound, hehe. This head gets out of the way and delivers sheer power. You will want a pedal preamp in line to shape your tone. That's absolutely fine with me. Preferred by some. Especially these days. This is a smart play by Harley Benton considering all the pre-amps, cabinet simulation, amp simulation out there. Almost all I see these days is one company one up'ing the previous with there AMP, or CAB or FX simulator pedal boards. Thier getting fierce and the quality has never been better. Back to the amp. Here what you get, ALL the power you could ever need for the sound you have in your hands and beneath your feet.
Put your tone in front of this amp and get out of the way. For real. Move, this head is a MAC Truck.
