Beautifully analogue
This hugely versatile device hits so many buttons - perfect for playing in a small apartment, perfect for recording electrics and acoustics, perfect for recording "in the box" without option paralysis or latency, huge range of possible sounds on hand if you want them from the 3 channels and 2 gain stages. Did I mention it's a tube amp?
Sounds fantastic through a cab and records direct into a DAW, and I've seen people use it live with a power amp. For once, a device that does exactly what it says on the box, and it does it beautifully!

The Swiss Army knife of amps
I owned the first version, loved it, and updated to this one. Exactly as Fryette promise, this version has more headroom, which helps it achieve snappier cleans and low-gain tones without completely re-dialling the whole amp. It also seems to help it do a better job of sounding like the full-size amps, especially that aggressive bark from the Pittbull, and being more precise in dialling in the master volume.
That alone is worth the upgrade. The addition of new features like the FX loop and re-amping input increase the value further. I don't use the built-in IRs — I prefer to do all of that "in the box" — but they sound great and, again, add another useful tool.
I've owned a number of full-size Fryette amps and, to me, the emulations in the GDPI are very convincing. Scaled-up with a Power Station, it sounds and feels pretty much indistinguishable from the real thing.
