Reissue of a Fender legend

The Fender 65 Princeton Reverb is a faithful reissue of one of the most enduring and widely respected amplifiers in Fender's history, an amp that has played a role in countless recordings over the decades and earned a reputation as a favourite among studio musicians. Renowned for its sparkling clean tones and smooth, harmonically rich overdrive, it delivers an exceptionally responsive playing experience while maintaining the clear, articulate character often associated with classic Californian amplifier sounds. Built at Fender's factory in Corona, California, this all-tube combo also includes the brand's celebrated reverb and tremolo effects, both conveniently controlled via the supplied footswitch. Completing the traditional Princeton formula is a 10" Jensen speaker, driven by a 12-watt power section equipped with two 6V6 tubes, helping to create the distinctive sound that has made this amplifier such a lasting favourite.

Simple controls, no frills

Whether used at home, in the recording studio, or on stage, the Fender 65 Princeton Reverb will prove to be remarkably versatile, delivering its distinctive character in a wide variety of musical settings. The familiar Blackface control panel remains refreshingly straightforward, relying on a simple two-band EQ with bass and treble controls alongside a volume knob that gradually shapes the amp's voice, taking it from sparkling, bell-like clean tones to a rich and expressive overdrive depending on the instrument and playing style. Staying true to its heritage, the reverb is generated by a genuine spring reverb unit rather than digital modelling, preserving the authentic character that players have appreciated for decades. The tube-driven tremolo is equally well integrated, adding depth, movement, and a touch of classic 60s atmosphere without ever overwhelming the amp's naturally balanced sound.

Classic sounds in a compact format

Players in search of an authentic vintage sound and a straightforward, no-nonsense design are likely to find plenty to appreciate in the Fender 65 Princeton Reverb for years to come. While the Blackface control panel offers only limited scope for adjustment, the amplifier's core sound delivers a remarkable combination of tone, responsiveness, and dynamics that has helped establish its enduring reputation. Rather than relying on extensive features, it focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well, providing a musical and highly expressive playing experience. The built-in spring reverb and tremolo further enhance its warm, sweet-sounding character, adding depth and texture while allowing the amp to adapt comfortably to a broad range of musical styles.

About Fender

Fender is without doubt one of the most legendary guitar and amplifier manufacturers of all time. The company was founded in 1946 by its namesake Leo Fender († 1991), whose innovative ideas brought a breath of fresh air into the musical world. His Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass are not only classics – they also continue to shape the styles of musicians in countless genres to this day. Timeless Fender amplifier models such as the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton also enjoy a stellar reputation. Besides maintaining its classic product portfolio, however, the company is also constantly developing new products that make Fender a driving force in today's music industry.

More than meets the eye

With its silver grille cloth and classic black control panel, the Fender 65 Princeton Reverb has a timeless appearance that will be equally at home in the living room, in the studio, and on stage. Its enduring popularity, however, is rooted far more deeply in its sound, as generations of musicians have come to appreciate the amplifier's distinctive tonal character and exceptionally responsive dynamics - qualities that many associate with the classic Fender sound itself. For this reason, the Princeton Reverb remains a familiar presence in recording studios around the world and continues to earn its place in countless live setups. Although rated at a modest 12 watts, the combination of a tube-powered output stage and a 10" Jensen speaker delivers an impressively full and authoritative sound, allowing this compact combo to perform far beyond what its size might suggest. The result is an amplifier that leaves a lasting impression wherever it is used, capturing the spirit and character that have long been associated with classic Rock & Roll.

Hét Fender geluid. Maar niet perfect.
DaanFRL 08.10.2025

The best sounding amp so far!
A d a m 09.06.2019
I bought it as my main amp for anything(practice, small gigs-medium sized gigs) and it does the job more than well!
I'm a big fan of the blackface sound and this one crushes all of them. I even sold my Deluxe Reverb amp, because the Princeton just sound better.

Pros:
-it's small and not so heavy(keep in mind that is a tube amp)
-the sound it's just the one that comes to mind thinking about a blackface
-the reverb it's fantastic

Cons:
-not so good for transporting, as with all tube amps

I play mainly jazz and some blues, and for this style of music it's really the best that you can get! I 'll recommend buying it if you're looking for that blackface clean but on the edge sound with a great sounding reverb. And with a great customer service that Thomann provides, it's worth the try.

Classic amp -- Good sound!
Matthew3022 27.04.2015
Fantastic amp. I use it exclusively for recording in my recording studio, although it's loud enough to play gigs in small clubs. Nice warm sound. The spring reverb and tremolo can get you a fantastic 60s vibe and if you use it in creative ways you can get newer sounds with it too.

Cool throwback with all the classic vibes
no5leep 09.03.2024
The Fender '65 Princeton Reverb reissue is a cool throwback with all the classic vibes and modern perks. Its compact size packs a punch with lush reverb and sweet vibrato effects. Whether you're dialing up dirty blues or clean tones, this amp delivers with a versatile range. The 10-inch Jensen speaker keeps things clear and articulate without overwhelming. While it's not the loudest, its responsive dynamics make it a blast to play at any volume. It's a timeless piece that nails vintage Fender tone while staying reliable for today's players.
