The 2227 Ultra Slinky strings are one of Ernie Ball's classic products and are already among the company's top sellers. The wound strings feature a hexagonal steel core beneath nickel-plated steel windings. The plain strings, on the other hand, are made from a specially hardened and tin-plated high-tensile carbon steel. With gauges of .010, .013, .017, .028, .038, and .048., the 2227 Ultra Slinky strings offer a comfortable playing feel while still producing a rich and warm tone that makes them ideal for both Jazz and Metal.

About Ernie Ball

The Ernie Ball company was named after its founder and has its headquarters in San Luis Opisbo, California. Being a guitarist himself, Ernie Ball knew their needs very well. A major problem for him in the 1950s and 1960s was the lack of high-quality guitar and bass strings. In 1962, Ernie Ball invented the “Slinky”, a very flexible and therefore much more comfortable string, which also sounded better and was more durable. He specifically brought individual string gauges onto the market for a young clientele and touring musicians. The company’s success was unstoppable, and today Ernie Ball is the world's largest manufacturer of guitar and bass strings. Over the years, the range has expanded and now includes accessories such as cables, picks, straps, etc. Ernie Ball is also known in connection with the instrument manufacturer Music Man, which the company bought in 1984, but which continues to operate as an independent brand.

Nijg setje, niet super populair, maar wel een van m'n favorieten

EB's zijn steeds een van m'n favorieten gebleven vanwege de kostprijs/levensduur verhouding. Ik vervang m'n snaren minstens maandelijks (>30u spelen).
Gecoate varianten hebben me nooit kunnen bekoren en wegens m'n speelstijl (benden/redelijke harde vingerzetting) gingen die niet langer mee en begonnen de beschadigde coatings ongewenste resonanties in de sustain te veroorzaken.
De EB's hebben misschien niet de langste levensduur, maar deze is meer dan behoorlijk voor de prijs.
Nieuwe snaren hebben een mooie top-end welke helaas niet de hele levensduur behouden blijft.
Slechts één maal heb ik een 'slechte' snaar gehad. (uit >700 stuks).
Ik gebruik deze in standaard E / Drop D (occasionele Drop C) stemmingen, wat aardig lukt zonder al te veel buzz.
Voor mij persoonlijk is EB een van de beste snaren leveranciers en deze reeks (slinks) een van de beste kwa prijs/kwaliteit.

Super fijne snaren voor Drop D! Niet te dun waardoor je er goed op kunt riffen, maar ook niet te dik waardoor solo's erg fijn blijven om te spelen.

Door de net iets stevigere onderkant een lekkere dikke sound. Maar qua gevoel niet zo dat snaren niet te bespelen zijn.
Goede gebalanceerde set in gevoel en geluid.
