This pickups are cheaper then other signature EMG pickups, however I was surprised of sound quality. Easy to install as this kit is solderless. However this kit is designed for Les Paul (single cut) guitars with toggle switch (toggle switch is not included). If you need for superstrat with lever type position switch I would recommend additionally order EMG 3-way switch B165. So, to make this wiring fully solderless. Wiring instruction I found on EMG official website for 3-way switch B165 for 2 active pickups, 1 tone and 1 volume. And keep in mind this pickups provided without frames and jack without jack plate. I ordered all this items additionally. Ever if your guitar was with passive pickups before, as mine, it is still enough place to put the battery inside. You can attach battery to the inner wall with doble tape, you will find tape on the power bus in the kit. Generally I'm fully satisfied with result. It was easy to connect all parts. Now I really enjoy my guitar with new voice. Now I start think to change pickups on my other guitars ))).

Very 81ish... but different

I bought this set just out of curiosity and I was pretty surprised with it: the ceramic pickup sounds slightly different than the EMG81, I would say more open but with the same kind of typical EMG focus on the mids; the neck pickup sounds very brilliant though, a great twist on the EMG 60 in my opinion. If you want to change your typical 85/51 and you already own a 57/66 set, this one might surprise you.

It's an EMG pickup, sound amazing!
The packaging is very good and it comes with 2 tone and 2 volume pots, plus connectors, scheme and a signature Jazz III pick (just a small detail)
They sound slightly different form the 60/81 but I will not use words like crunchy, warm and blá blá blá.
They just sound better.

Easy installation, everything is clear and simple for understending how to connect and replace the old one pickups.
The sound is excellent much more better as I expected. With proper effects, amps it plays the same as the original Metallica sound. I am very satisfied with BBset. It compleately changed my guitar.

Nice sound!

Switching from my guitar's unbranded passives was a night and day difference! No weird noise with higher gain levels and enough clarity, plus a great metal sound! Easy install that doesn't require any soldering (except if you have a long jack input like mine), and included manual covers all possibilities of combinations!

Master of pickups

Love emg and wanted to buy this set for a few months. They didn’t disappoint at all! Very easy install and great sound for clean and off course for metal. The only thing is that you need to remember to buy a pickup selector switch, I bought also an emg one and it was very easy to install as well

Excellent if paired with the right amp

Obviously, these are loud. I put them in a Harley Benton Explorer kit that I bought and built and I love them. Clear cleans and huge heavy sounds, and they look the part too. Combined with the EMG solderless connectors for the volume, tone pots etc, they’re simple to fit.
As you’d expect, though, if you’re putting these into a relatively high output amp, expect some distortion and to need to use the guitar volume to keep them clean.
