A reliable feedback suppressor
The dbx AFS2 is a feedback suppression processor for on-stage use that continuously analyses the incoming signal and breaks it down into 24 frequency bands per channel. If feedback starts to occur at a specific frequency, the AFS2 automatically lowers the volume of that frequency within milliseconds and thus prevents that infuriating whistling noise. Users have a selection of filter modes at their disposal to allow the feedback suppression to be optimised for the respective signal type: "Fixed" filters allow the most feedback-prone frequencies to be notched out, while "Live" filters (intended for music applications) provide more gain before feedback suppression is applied. "Wizard" mode in turn allows the user to ring out the system in order to optimally match the current on-stage conditions. While the DBX AFS2 represents a more costly investment than its direct competitors, the trade-off is a combination of high-quality workmanship and professional-grade sound, in a highly reliable package.

Set it and forget it
The dbx AFS2 automatically and reliably eliminates intrusive feedback without reducing the overall volume or altering the sound in any noticeable way. The Wizard mode mentioned above walks the user through the entire setup procedure, allowing them to tweak the system's parameters to precisely match conditions on stage, after which the processor operates largely autonomously. If necessary, it is also possible to use the rotary encoders and large LCD screen to individually configure the 24 notch filters, which are as narrow as 1/80th of an octave. The rear panel of the AFS2 features a balanced XLR and jack input and output for each of the two channels, allowing the unit to be integrated into individual microphone channel, sub group, or master inserts – or alternatively between the main outs and the speakers.

Simple but effective
Automatic feedback suppression is virtually indispensible for musicians working with no FOH (as well as making life a lot easier for FOH engineers), particularly when wireless microphones and in-ear monitors are being used – after all, freedom to move around on stage doesn't come without a few problems. Thanks to its independent feedback monitoring capabilities and automated ringing-out mode, the dbx AFS2 is suitable for users who don't necessarily have specialist knowledge in this field, and its high level of precision, exemplified by the 24 extremely narrow-band filters for each channel, ensures reliable performance that is sure to fulfil the demands of even demanding users.

About dbx
dbx was founded in 1971 by David E. Blackmer and is now part of Harman Industries. Headquartered in the US state of Utah, it has always been involved in the development of high-quality audio products. The company gained worldwide fame with the dbx noise reduction system of the same name, the aim of which was to increase the dynamics of professional tape recorders in studios and that came onto the market as a competitor to Dolby A in the early 1970s. Introduced in the late 1970s, the dbx 160 VCA compressor represents another milestone in the company's history and remains a popular classic to this day. Today, various top-class signal processors in different formats are included in the dbx range.
For PAs and fixed installations
Because automatic feedback control is so essential for performers who use wireless mics and in-ear monitors to give them complete freedom of movement on stage, solutions need to provide sufficient connectivity. The dbx AFS2 fits the bill here too, since it can be integrated at any relevant point in the PA's signal flow - whether it's in the insert of the lead vocalist's microphone channel, the insert of a sub group, or even the master insert. Users can also place an additional equaliser either up or downstream from the AFS2. Alternatively, the dbx AFS2 can be placed between the main outs and the speaker system, and it is also eminently suitable for integration into fixed installations in theatres, churches, and other locations.
