Eight-channel preamp at a bargain price

The Behringer ADA8200 Ultragain is an eight-channel preamp module which includes full AD/DA conversion and ADAT connectivity. It provides a cost-effective way to add additional analogue inputs and outputs to any compatible audio interface or digital mixer. The eight on-board microphone preamps were developed by Midas and, in addition to their clean basic sound, deliver up to 60 dB of gain – a remarkable feat at this price point. The internal converters are manufactured by Cirrus Logic and support sampling rates of up to 24 bit/48 kHz. Thanks to the convenience and consistency of its design and characteristically budget-friendly price, the Behringer ADA8200 has been a consistent favourite on the audio market for years.

Comprehensive ADAT routing options

The Behringer ADA8200 Ultragain provides phantom power for condenser microphones via a dedicated master switch and also allows line sources to be connected thanks to the additional TRS sockets included on each channel. Each of the analogue inputs is routed to the module’s ADAT output. The line outputs on the rear side offer eight additional output channels, which are routed from the ADAT input. This considerably expands the functionality of the ADA8200 and allows the connection of outboard effects units or headphone amplifiers in order to create different monitor mixes, for example.

Eight clean-sounding, high-gain Midas microphone preamps, eight additional line outputs, complete internal AD/DA conversion and, last but not least, a remarkable price-performance ratio make the Behringer ADA8200 Ultragain a very practical and economical option for use in both home and project studios. The company, which was founded in Germany by Uli Behringer and now manufactures its products in China, has been known for affordable and great-value equipment since its very first product, the Studio Exciter F. For use in combination with additional converters (as a master or slave), the necessary synchronization takes place via the ADAT interface or, alternatively, via the word clock.

Fijne prijs kwaliteit verhouding

Dit toestel doet exact wat het hoort te doen, het signaal van 8 preamps via adat versturen naar je interface, niet meer maar ook niet minder.

Er zijn ongetwijfeld betere preamps te vinden maar daar hangt uiteraard een prijskaartje aan vast.
Desondanks vind ik de audio kwaliteit zeker meer dan behoorlijk.

Wil je gewoon op een budgetvriendelijke manier je interface uitbreiden met 8 kanalen om vb drums op te nemen, dan is dit een laagdrempelig toestel.

Mooie aanvulling op bestaande interface

Eindelijk nog eens een bedrijf dat goede apparatuur ontwikkelt voor een eerlijke prijs. Het apparaat werkt heel goed. Eenvoudig te installeren. Kan niet op zichzelf werken maar wekt met 1 optical in master modus, 2 opticals in slave modus en met gelijk welk ander merk via een word-click mbv een BNC kabel. Dat allemaal voor een zeer eerlijke prijs. De uitgangen zijn enkel via XLR, dat is een klein minpuntje, naar mijn 0ersoonlijke mening. Doch is dit snel op te lissen door een XLR baar TS (of TRS) adapter, daar waar nodig. Ik ben in ieder geval zeer tevreden met het resultaat.

De vorig versie was al goed maar daar is nu een stapje bovenop gekomen:
Midas heeft zich ermee bemoeit (?).
Bovendien word deze nieuwe versie lang niet zo heet als de vorige versie.

Condensator microfoons kunnen direct aangesloten worden omdat fantoomvoeding (48 Volt) aanwezig is.

Goed eigenschappen en veel headroom voor zó weinig geld!

Een aanrader om de externe geluidskaart te voorzien van 8 extra kanalen (via ADAT aansluiting, alleen optisch mogelijk).

Precies wat ik nodig heb

Voor mijn kleine thuisstudio had ik wat extra in- en outputs nodig en met de ADA8200 heb ik precies wat ik wil in huis gehaald. Goede preamps en via adat werkt het perfect met mijn digidesign interface. Te gek.
