Aguilar AG 700 V2 Bass Head

If the AG700 were judged only by tone, it would be an easy 5-star monster.
Huge headroom, insanely clean, tight, powerful — the kind of sound that instantly explains its reputation.
Pure joy to play.
BUT… then the fans turn on.
Aguilar calls these fans silent.
Silent for who?
A deaf monk in Tibet?
It blows my mind that a company this good delivers such a loud cooling system and labels it as “silent.” The tone is boutique-level happiness, but the fan noise feels like a small machine warming up right beside you.
In loud environments, it doesn’t matter.
But when the band sits down to talk, or you’re between songs, the fan becomes this annoying background presence that slowly drills into your head (thank goodness for the mute button, the fan chill down when pushed)
For low-volume home practice, it’s honestly the wrong amp — the fan becomes the star of the show.
And that’s the real frustration:
I love the tone. I hate the fan.
It feels like Aguilar built a dream amp and then installed a cooling system from a desktop PC from 1996.
Final verdict:
If you want a clean, powerful, modern bass head with phenomenal tone, this is the one.
But if you need peace and quiet at low volume, be ready for the fan to test your sanity.
A killer amp held back by a very un-killer fan.
